Man_Up and do what is right

I can’t speak for everyone and I struggle with blanket statements from others when it comes to assumptions. I can however speak for myself. There are times that I struggle with specific direction or the next step to take. I hope I am not the only one and expect that since the word indicates that what we face is common to man I can assume I am not the only one. In an attempt to continue on a forward course we are forced to walk in faith.

After finishing my last book “Here’s the Man”, about differentiating between the will of God and the purpose of God, I struggled a little. I didn’t struggle so much with what to do but the struggle was with staying hooked up to do what needed to be done. I began to ask questions as to what I was to do and how I was to do it. I would ask and often I would not hear much. It was as if God was taking me through what I was to write. This book will be about faith and learning to walk in faith.

We are going to learn that living by faith is not about being so afraid of making a mistake that we have to be lead by the hand every step of the way but rather understanding that God loves us so much and believes in us so much that He trusts us to do what he lays on our hearts. Even more important that is the fact that He is able to guide us through mistakes. What we have to be able to do is accept the challenge, receive the discipline, and do what is right.

Doing what is right because we know that is what needs to be done is living by faith.

Trust God to have His perfect way in your life.

I have looked for years for the understanding of why things happen the way they happen. It just appears at times that there is no reasonable explanation for why thins happen. The pain is unbearable or so it seems. The hurt is unsolicited and the disappointment is emotionally crushing. There seems to be no explanation and we somehow try to convince ourselves that we are supposed to be okay with that. I have come to accept that there are some things that are supposed to hurt.

As we accept the relationship with Christ and begin to walk with God we embark on a journey that is designed to develop our beings to be what He desires by promoting in us the characteristics that he wills to enable us to fulfill His purpose. He initially begins that process with discipline. That discipline is accomplished or performed in us by our obedience. In other words we learn his discipline by our acts of obedience. He said He desired obedience more than sacrifice. Don’t be confused. The act of sacrificing was being obedient. It wasn’t the sacrifice that caught His attention, it was the act of obedience.

There are two motivating factors that drive us. One is the fear of the consequences of His wrath. The other is the reward of His favor. Both are very powerful in their motivation. Both have their particular purpose. That purpose is to help guide us to become what God wants us to be. Allow Him to have His way in your life. He knows what is best. He knows what He wants of us and He knows how to establish in us what He desires.

His plans are sure and definitive. He makes no mistakes. He is the one who works all things together for our good. So allow Him to have is way in your life. He does things perfect and in order. Trust Him.

What do you Believe

May 8, 2012

Why do you believe what you believe? Do you know? Where does it come from and what are you a product of?

The conversation started with the concept of how we acquire or form our belief system. Part of our belief system is acquired by what we learn from or are told by others like friends, teachers, and parents. Then there seems to come a time in our life where we go through circumstances and situations that make up the experience of life where our belief system is formed. That belief system becomes the very core of what we base all we believe and accept. If we will adequately assess our own lives we can determine where we are and determine which direction we need to proceed.

The circumstances in life sometimes serve to confirm what we believe. Those times we need just to know that we are on the right track. I can’t speak for others but I like at times things going easy or at least predictable. When God confirms that we can depend on Him for our provision, healing, and salvation and the like it makes living enjoyable. We need these times to make the other times tolerable.

Sometimes the circumstances in life challenge the very core of what we believe and that can be one of the most uncomfortable places in life. It seems that at those times we are in a place with absolutely nothing to stand on. When God has declared to you the steps to take all of your life and then He just tells you to step and after you step you can see, touch or feel Him it is very uncomfortable to say the least. God is now treating you in a manner you haven’t experienced. I really believe that this is a process of restoration that is forming a belief system that must be present in order to fulfill the purpose God has for us.

As a number of people come to the same understanding it is confirmation God is fulfilling what He wants accomplished. This restoration and confirmation allows this belief system to be passed on to the next generation.

Man_Up and be the man that God wants you to be

There are some tough questions and difficult answers that may be required of us in this life that stretch our faith and reestablish the boundaries of our belief. As we travel down this road of life we are going to experience the emotions of hurt as well as joy, disappointment as well as satisfaction, and confusion rather than contentment and purpose from time to time. That is life. It doesn’t make it any easier that is just the way it is. We just have to be determined to make it and allow God to lead us on.

One of the areas we may be tested in is our belief in God as absolute moral truth. The question may be posed like this. Is God fair? When we begin to look at the question we will be reminded that God is just. We will be reminded that He doesn’t treat all the same. We will be reminded that He has favorites. All these things we should be reminded of. However, that doesn’t mean He is not fair. That is a matter of perspective.

If God had a different means of salvation for everyone He might be considered unfair. If God had a different standard of excellence for everyone He might be considered unfair. If God had not shared that standard of excellence with everyone He might be unfair. If my memory serves me correctly He only has one standard that all will be judged and that is Jesus. His will is that none perish and that all come to repentance. In being just He may take from those who have not and give to those who have, but in His fairness we do not receive what we deserve.

Jesus paid it all so that we get to receive it all in Him. His expectation of us is to receive Jesus. Our potential in Him is to be like Jesus.

Here’s the Man – Innocence or Arrogance

Joseph had another dream.  This time he told it not only to his brothers but to his father.  His brothers hated him more and His father rebuked him.  I have heard others tell that Joseph was arrogant because he had to be spoiled because he was the favorite. I don’t know that to be true.  It seems to me that God has not been afraid to point out the faults of other men of faith.  However there is no announcement of one on Joseph’s behalf.  So I choose to believe on the side of innocence.  I think he just didn’t know any better.  He was simply over whelmed by the visitation of a dream and couldn’t contain it. As a matter of fact if he had not declared the dream the rest of his life might not have carried much significance. I believe the reason he was given the dream to begin with was his relationship with God.  We just can’t over look the importance of Jacob settling down in the land of his father.  That included declaring to his family the God of his father Isaac.  The innocence gave way to maturity as he endured the hardships and encountered new circumstances in life as God led him forward.  That maturity was proven as he took his place to be the man God was creating him to be. His willingness to grow and continue forward by accepting new roles and learning how to respond appropriately in given situations is the mark of maturity.  It declares one willing to make this statement.

Are you innocent or arrogant?

One or the other will be declared by your life.

Man_UP – Be patient and understand time

The emotions that come with the frustrations and the disappointments of life that are a result of the time involved in asking and believing and trusting for prayers and desires to be manifest can be at the very least be annoying and can escalade to overwhelming if not handled correctly. We are all going to experience things that catch us by surprise or don’t function according to our expectation. When those times occur how are we supposed act? How are we supposed to feel? What are we supposed to believe?

Those questions may sound like doubt but I don’t believe they are. Some of us have been taught that we are not to question God and there may very well be some validity to that teaching. There are times we don’t need to question God. However, until our faith grows and is established to the point that we don’t have to understand to believe or see to be able to accept, it is reasonable expectation that we would ask those questions. As a matter of fact it may be necessary for us to ask those questions. Having those questions push us to search out the answers for ourselves and establishes our faith and our belief system.

Consider this:

Faith comes by hearing the word of God.

The trying of our faith brings or encourages patience.

Hebrews says that we have need of patience after we have done the will of God to receive the result. There is often a time period between when we do what we are supposed to and receive what we expect.

James said to let patience have her perfect work. That time period that we are experiencing frustration, disappointment, discouragement, etc. really is for a purpose.

It may not come easily. James gave more than one example of others having to wait on it.

In other words patience is important.

Two things I want you to determine to do.

1)      Exercise it – Hebrews 12:1-3

2)      Teach it – Titus 2:1-3

This is one of the hardest things for me to do and I know it is for others also. Stay focused. Stay determined. God has an end in mind and it is good.

Be actively involved

November 2, 2011

We have all been challenged to be involved at one time or another as believers to do something that pertains to church growth or maturity. Those steps range from being actively involved in some form of evangelism to just taking a step of faith towards the vision God has given. Sometimes those steps are easy and sometimes those steps are terrifying. I suppose the reason there is any controversy at all is because of the experiences we have to filter through in life.

We want to think that living a balanced life is easy. We would like to think that purpose is enough to get us through. It is not. That purpose has to make it through all the junk we have to deal with. The purpose or the goal can’t change. Only God knows how to take us from where we are to where He is leading us so hang on.

We will have to deal with spiritual issues. By that I mean that we will have to work out our own salvation. We will have to learn how to follow, trust and depend on God. Don’t let sin or anything else detour you from being what God wants you to be. God knows how to discipline.

We will have to deal with physical issues. The loss of a loved one can be a blow to life’s momentum and so can the words of a nag or an uncooperative spouse or offspring. I am just saying that if we don’t have some things settled about why we are doing the things that we are doing the issues of life that we have to deal with can destroy all we have worked for. God knows how to instruct.

There are some emotional issues to deal with as well. At some point in our lives we may be faced with having everything we believe in challenged. At some point the very core belief of God’s love, His concern, and His care for us will be challenged. Stay put. It will be worth it all. God also knows how to comfort.

We have been given a purpose to fulfill. We can find evidence of specific plans to fulfill that purpose. Whether or not we are able to fulfill that purpose will be determined by our willing involvement in His plan. Accept the challenge, listen to the instruction, and overcome the emotional outbursts that can compromise the journey.

Man_Up and be the man that God wants you to be.

Everyone desires to live a balanced life. It will require a resolve that means to maybe suffer a little. The expectation may not be to suffer but that is what it will take. God’s purpose is for us to grow and prosper and that we are going to have to settle in our minds at some point. When we do it will open a window for prayers to be opened. We must believe that He is and that He desires to bless us.

One of the real issues I want to deal with is that of distinguishing the difference between knowing where God wants us and having the resolve to stay there through whatever happens.  I have been through some things that when I come out the other side I believed I failed.  I have come now to accept that only God can be judge of that.  I may not have been there for success as I defined it. I may have been there only for opportunity to present God’s message for others and for myself to determine whether or not I was truly doing things for the right reason. (Resolve to be what and where God wants me)

We would like to think everything is black and white and I guess everything can be if we don’t try to get too confined on what is white and what is black.  What I mean is we have a tendency to limit what is black and white by what we believe or can accept within our scope of being able to understand or comprehend a given set of circumstances.  Sometimes I don’t like it either but that is why this is a walk of faith.  God is working out in us what is the height, depth, length, and width of His love for us.  He is working out in our lives the declaration of nothing can separate us from His love.  Even in what we might consider as failures.

What He requires of us is faithfulness by resolve.

Where’s the Man

October 19, 2011

It is possible to be the man God wants us to be. Through devoted bible study, commitment, seeking God’s purpose, making the right choices, and dealing appropriately with life struggles we can be what God wants us to be. In my book “Where’s the Man” we look at the life of David and the circumstances he faced and find how he became the man after God’s heart. Below is some words from a friend concerning the book.

“Much is being said about various programs that are for assisting dads in being better dads, programs that assist those without fathers such as the Big Brothers and a countless number of books have been written. However, the book “Where Is The Man” is not just another book.  If your looking for assistance in being the man God intended, with spiritual perspective than this book is for you.  Where is the man is not just informational but extremely practical. A person does not have to be extremely spiritual to realize that many things are pointing to the end of time.  Even the casual Christian feels that fast changing world we live in is bringing about end time events.

Please do not take me wrong the book, “Where’s the Man.” Is not a book about the end time yet brings to our attention the responsibility of every man stepping up and being the man God intended. You will find this book, enlightening, informative, challenging and inspirational.  Robert uses a special gifting to not only inform but also to be encouraged to step up and be the man.  To let God direct the path and to order the steps.

You will be blessed by this book and will not only enjoy reading it but will place it on your bookshelf to be used as a reference as well.

You can obtain your copy of this sure to be good read at along with other books. Visit us soon and please recommend to your friends. Feel free to leave a comment also.

What A Man

We all wonder at times why things are happening the way they are happening. There are times we question if God is really on our side. We all believe that if we had more we could do more and if things didn’t come against us at the most inopportune time we could accomplish more. We will not have a lot of control over when and where circumstances seem to obstruct our path. We could and would possibly do more if we had more and there is no right or opportune time for opposition. Realistically the time is always now and that is when things happen. Just be assured of this. God is now and always on your side.

As we search the scriptures we find that all men of God have had to face and endure their share of misfortune or opposition. Some men have even been taken from this life before receiving the promise yet it didn’t detour them. God promised He would never leave us nor forsake us and His word goes on to say that all things work together for good to them who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

Each step of a righteous man is ordered of God. It is important for us to understand that God will tell us each step to be taken. It is equally important to accept that God uses each of those steps to confirm His leading us to that place of righteousness in Him. May we discover how to follow God in such a manner that we can hear Him say “well done.”

Living a balanced stable life in Christ is constantly being challenged. Not thinking too highly of ourselves when things go right and staying constant when things go wrong are issues we will have to deal with in this life. The ability to remain focused on forward progress is difficult at times. Work on a constant daily devotion time where time is spent not just reading the word but time is spent listening and responding to God and documenting what is being communicated. Purpose will be established and the direction to fulfill it will be communicated. We are responsible for making the right choices and ultimately for the choice of our spiritual maturity or growth.
