Be a Man that God wants

God Wants You

Man_Up

What kind of man are you going to be? What kind of influence are you going to be? Where will that influence take place? Life is full of questions and those particular questions can often times be overwhelming. I don’t believe anyone in their right mind wants to miss God. We want to be sure of direction as well as taking advantage of opportunities as well. That will mean getting close to God.

God said that He looked for a man to stand in the gap and make up the hedge for the land that He would not destroy it but He found none. Is that not disturbing? It is not that He didn’t find a man, for the word declares that man existed at the time. It is not that people were not “spiritual” at the time for they were offering their sacrifices and observing the Holy days. The problem was their relationship with God was lacking. They served God with their mouths and not their hearts. This is an intolerable act with God.

It does not take a rocket scientist to see that there are a lot of things in this world that has not changed. There is a large portion of society today that does not believe, trust, or follow the teachings of Christ. Even among believers the views on critical issues such as salvation, maturity, and commitment vary. Some who consider themselves believers do not accept the bible as the infallible word of God. Many consider good works enough to secure eternal salvation as others hold fast to confession while treating their neighbors like trash.

God is still looking for a man who will believe and follow Him. God is still looking for a man who will trust and commit to Him. God is still looking for a man who will dare care for his neighbor and the world around Him. God is still looking for a man who believes that he can positively affect this society. I hope that person is you. That person can be you.

Man_Up

Be what God wants you to be today. Trust that He wants the best for you. Believe or have faith that He will act on your behalf. Hope or know that He will bring to pass.

Today is the day the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad. How many times have we heard that said or even said it ourselves? It may seem simple but it is but it may prove to be astoundingly important. Today is the only day we have to apply what we would change about yesterday to influence the potential of tomorrow.

We could and should all say that we want to be what God wants for us to be. I think that is a reasonable expectation as well as a realistic desire. However, what does that mean? Does it mean to endure? Does it mean to stay engaged? Could it mean to be faithful in the now? To Man_Up is to willingly place ourselves in the hands of God and allow Him to work in us His will by allowing the processes of reality to develop us to be what God wants for us to be. There will be both reward and consequences for the decisions and choices we make. Life will not be fair. There will be things that will seem unwarranted and undeserved. They will all share in molding us to be what God wants for us to be if we will stay committed to Him.

There will be two areas of temptation with intention to confuse us. One will be the temptation to consider the past. Although remembering some things of the past is reasonable, we must not continually dwell on the past. It is a trap. We cannot go backward. It won’t work. It never has been and it never will be a reasonable option for success. Just don’t go there. The other is the temptation to be infatuated with the future. Just as we can’t dwell continually on the past we cannot be consumed with the future. We do need to know we are going forward. We do need to have a vision. However, if all we look at is the future we will be continually disappointed. Tomorrow never comes and yesterday never returns.

We have to find a way to be content today. Today is when God is working on us. Today is when God heals. Today is when God saves. Today is when God delivers. Today is where we need to work out how to live. Today is when we must accept the call to Man_Up.

There may be no reasonable explanation to what is happening in our lives except that it is God’s plan.  Look for and even ask for God to manifest encouragement in your life.  He said ask and you shall receive.  He said seek and you shall find.  He said to knock and the door would be opened.  Some may say well what if it doesn’t happen.  It’s not my promise. It’s His.  He also said if we would draw close to Him, He would draw close to us.  All I know is that he knows how and when to encourage us and that encouraging is necessary to keep us declaring this statement.  HERE’S THE MAN.

Consider these suggestions:

Your dreams and visions coming to fruition may require some willingness on your behalf.

There are a number of things we are not capable at time to understand. We must be willing to accept life as it is and continue forward.

Times of confusion may occur however they only serve as stepping stones.

The confusion will give way to specific direction and understanding as we remain faithful.

Knowing God loves you and is for you is the epitome of and the essence of encouragement.

Above all else allow this one thing to be settled in your mind. God is on your side.

Man_Up and be the man that God wants you to be

There are some tough questions and difficult answers that may be required of us in this life that stretch our faith and reestablish the boundaries of our belief. As we travel down this road of life we are going to experience the emotions of hurt as well as joy, disappointment as well as satisfaction, and confusion rather than contentment and purpose from time to time. That is life. It doesn’t make it any easier that is just the way it is. We just have to be determined to make it and allow God to lead us on.

One of the areas we may be tested in is our belief in God as absolute moral truth. The question may be posed like this. Is God fair? When we begin to look at the question we will be reminded that God is just. We will be reminded that He doesn’t treat all the same. We will be reminded that He has favorites. All these things we should be reminded of. However, that doesn’t mean He is not fair. That is a matter of perspective.

If God had a different means of salvation for everyone He might be considered unfair. If God had a different standard of excellence for everyone He might be considered unfair. If God had not shared that standard of excellence with everyone He might be unfair. If my memory serves me correctly He only has one standard that all will be judged and that is Jesus. His will is that none perish and that all come to repentance. In being just He may take from those who have not and give to those who have, but in His fairness we do not receive what we deserve.

Jesus paid it all so that we get to receive it all in Him. His expectation of us is to receive Jesus. Our potential in Him is to be like Jesus.

Here’s the Man

Here’s the Man

Each of us have our own set of struggles. Each of us have our own set of difficulties. Simply put we each have our own cross to bear. Some days we pass through comfortably and others we may struggle desperately. There is a concept that if kept in mind might allow life and our journey through life to be more tolerable. Jesus said in this world we would find trials and tribulation but we are to be encouraged for He overcame this world. In the book “Here’s the Man” we go through the life of Joseph and discuss the difference in the will of God and the plan of God  and how God works out His will by executing His plan in and through us. Life changing concept!

A friend wrote these words:

“You cannot know Robert Jackson very long before you are aware of his passion for Jesus. It is this passion for Jesus that provides the desire that he feels for mentoring men to become all they can be for Jesus. The insights and passion that he shares in this book, HERE’S THE MAN — if read, believed, and practiced – will help you alter your present situation and prepare you for a great emotional and spiritual future.”

How much can you take?

October 3, 2011

Man_Up

Have you ever said “You’ve had enough?” Although I have been at this place several times in my own life I have not fully come to conclusion on how this works.  It is possible for us to not be fully cooperative with God’s plan and almost become dysfunctional because of discomfort.  At that point we are not comforted by what God may be doing for us.  We are not content by any stretch of the imagination.  All we know is that we hurt and we don’t want to hurt any more.  So we may say that we can’t take any more and we’ve had enough.

The reason I said that I’ve not fully come to conclusion as to how all this works is this.  I know this.  If we are serious with God we must believe that He is working also.  He said in His word that if we would draw near to Him.  He would draw near to us.  When we start getting close to the end, something starts to happen in us.  I am not so sure that we don’t sense that the end is near.  It may manifest as anxiety or anticipation but I do believe God begins to do something in us.  It may be for encouragement that this is not the end and that God has more.  It may be that others need to know and hear that God has more for you.  It just seems obvious that God begins to stop and orchestrate change.  The part that is puzzling is that there is still time involved.

We must come to the place of overcoming the temptation to withdraw or back away because that is the place we become dysfunctional. God knows that we hurt. God knows that we experiencing a near unbearable dilemma. He also knows the necessity of taking us this way.We must accept that God knows best and He is in control. There are times it is not easy however it can be accomplished.

Ask, Seek, and Knock

September 29, 2011

Man_Up

It seems that there are a lot of people in the world who are unhappy. They seem not to be pleased with where they are or what they are doing. Their unhappiness manifests as anger towards others or themselves as well as a number of other symptoms. I am not a specialist in the area so I will not attempt to explain why or how things happen. I just know this. We worry way to much about where we are and what we are doing.

Have you ever asked yourself this? Where would I be if…? What would I be doing if…? We surely have to accept that the decisions or choices that we make contribute to the outcome of our lives. We must teach that sound decisions are important. It does seem or appear that we make some bad or unnecessary choices at times. We may even suffer because of the decisions or choices that we make. Consider this. How many perfect people do we find in the bible?

Not discounting the fact that right decisions is important, we still have to believe that God is merciful. He said ask and you would receive. I don’t know how He works everything out but He does. He said seek and you would find. We need to be proactive at pursuing what we believe God is wanting in our lives. He said knock and the door would be opened. You don’t have to go through every door. If you have reservations that is okay but how are you going to know what is available if you do not knock.

Too much is made of making mistakes. I am not in any way saying that it is okay to make mistakes. I am saying we serve a God who is well able to keep us from falling and to present us as faithful on that day. God’s will for our lives is for us to be fulfilling His will and purpose and that to satisfaction. There are many things that cause us to be unhappy. Determine you are in the place God wants you to be and be faithful.

Victory ahead

January 5, 2011

Man_Up
This could be the year that we realize our biggest victory yet in God. This could be the time that the one thing we have been praying and seeking for comes to pass. True victory is first experienced in one’s self and that experience may very well be determined by one choice. Man_Up
The term Man_up is simply a reference to the act of becoming the person God wants you to be and voluntarily, because of a sovereign decision, choosing to cooperate in the processes necessary for that transformation to be completed. To Man_Up is to intentionally place ourselves in God’s plan for our lives and to be subjected to His dealing with us as sons so that we may make it through on the other side the man He wants us to be.
I will say that sometimes that process may not be an enjoyable one. I probably should say that only after the pains of the struggles are over and the rewards are being admired will it be enjoyable. No hardship for an extended period of time is enjoyable. We don’t need to confuse ourselves by trying to convince one another that it is. Sometimes it will seem as a testing of our level of tolerance for there will not appear to be any understandable or explainable reason for the pain. There are some things that are supposed to hurt. If they don’t there is something wrong. We must learn to see through the pain. We must have vision enough to look past the circumstances. We could probably agree that Jesus was going through a tough situation the last week of His life here. In the garden He cried, “if it be possible let this cup pass from me.” On the cross He cried, “why hast thou forsaken me.” However He finished both by giving Himself over to God.
In the garden – “not my will by yours”
On the cross – “into thy hands I commend my spirit”
Give yourself to God.
Allow Him total control.
Start today.

BE A MAN

September 27, 2010

Today is the day the Lord has made. Yesterday with its pains and struggles are in the past. We can’t do
much about yesterday but we are expected to navigate through today. Let us do all we can to be what
we are supposed to be today. In Ezekiel 22:30, the word says “I sought for a man among them who
should build up the wall and stand in the breach before me for the land.”(ESV) I understand that the
word man could be interpreted as person, but for now let us take it literally to mean a man. If it is a man
that God is looking for then it is a man that God expects to find. If that is true then how seriously should
we take the challenge of this statement? BE A Man!!! Stand up and be the man God wants you to be.

Ezekiel is an awesome example of a man. He experienced in his walk with God the ups and downs.
He saw and experienced the glory of the presence of God as well as having to endure the pain of
disappointment and discouragement. He endured the suffering for an example to the people. Yet
through it all he became the man God was looking for. During the hardships we may feel that we just
can’t go another step. We may feel we are at the edge of absolute despair. We may get to a place
where we don’t want to allow hope for fear of another disappointment. We may be tempted to give up
completely. I find twice in the life of Ezekiel that God seemed to call time out and pull Ezekiel to the side
and explain that all would be okay. If we will follow Him it will be okay for us also.

Let me say it this way. God is not dead. He is alive. He is not deaf. His arm is not shortened. He is ready
to provide, to lift up, to bless and to encourage for He is jealous for His own. So stay the course. Keep
walking. Keep praising. Keep on being faithful.

Pray for the brethren.
Intercede for one another.
Take your place.
BE A Man
